Occupational Allergic Contact Dermatitis in Wind Turbine Blades Production

Introduction: Epoxy resins, widely used in several industrial sectors, are among the main causes of allergic contact dermatitis. The wind turbine production industry is one sectors that uses these products widely. This study aimed to assess prevalence allergy epoxy resin and its components blades workers with suspected dermatitis.
 Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis patch test results between 2012 2019 dermatitis characterized their demographic clinical data, occupational impact on workers.
 Results: Out 3049 patients tested period 2012-2019, we identified thirteen workers, predominantly male (69.2%). All them handled glues, resins and/or paints daily work activities. Seven (53.8%) had combination hand airborne dermatitis, two (15.4%) exclusively four (30.8%) positive for ten (76.9%) also reaction 1,6-hexanediol diglycidylether. Two already hardened powder. Four quit jobs due three (23.1%) were transferred another workstation without exposure resin. Avoidance resulted significant improvement.
 Conclusion: With this study, confirmed cause eczema occurs by direct exposure.
